2015 Epting/Mathews Co-op Student of the Year

2014 Co-op Student of the YearJacob Johnson is an architecture major from Roswell, GA who co-oped with Seay, Seay, & Litchfield Architects in Montgomery, AL for three terms. While at SS & L, Jacob assisted in various daily tasks including marketing, presentation formulation, recruiting, design, site observations, construction management, and overall project development. Jacob had this to say about his experience, “the experiences and skills gained from the thirteen months in Montgomery have been more beneficial to my architectural education than any single class has been. I was able to gain a clear understanding on the roles of an architect, how a project develops, and gain vital time management and leadership skills.”

Jacob was given the task of aiding in the design of a small maintenance facility. He was able to carry that design to the final completion stages. He was instrumental in implementing a new software into the daily work activities. He was also given the responsibility of providing supervision and mentorship to new interns. Jacob was offered a full-time job before leaving SS&L and will be returning to work in Montgomery after graduation.

While at Mississippi State, he has earned the honor of being on the president’s list for several semesters. He won the NOMAS diversity award and has been published in the BarnWorks publication.
